A Window for Session and Deacons - The Reach Committee

A Window for Session and Deacons:

The REACH Committee

What are Session and all those committees doing?” and “How can I help with the work of the Church?” are frequently asked questions around Red Clay. A Window into the activities of Session and the Deacons, and their many activities and committees, will be a regular feature of Life at the Creek, appearing every several weeks and highlighting the mission and activities of Deacons or the various Session Committees. If you would like to learn more, participate in a committee or Deacon activity, or join a committee to help further its work, please contact the Committee Chair or a committee member to learn more.

The REACH Committee – The purpose of the REACH committee is to provide opportunities for Red Clay members to participate in and support local and global mission work.

REACH coordinates most of the missional outreach of Red Clay through various Mission and Outreach programs. REACH programs encompass both local, regional, and international mission programs with an emphasis on participation. While Red Clay allocates around $50,000 annually for REACH programs from the operating budget, the actual commitment is far greater when direct program donations and the thousands of volunteer hours are also considered. More than 100 members are regular participants in at least one of the Red Clay REACH programs. Whether it is our monthly preparation of a tasty chili lunch for Emmanuel Dining Room, our annual support of more than 100 individuals in need through Adopt-A-Family, or participation with our major local mission partners Urban Promise, Friendship House, or the Delaware Food Bank, there are almost daily opportunities for every Red Clay member to experience the joy of sharing God’s love through mission. For those seeking an even broader mission outreach there are regular trips and interactions with mission partners in Costa Rica, South Africa, Nicaragua, and closer to home in Maine, Appalachia, and recently New Orleans. Red Clay mission volunteers have built relationships both regionally and worldwide that enrich lives both at Red Clay and within the communities served.

To learn more on how you might participate in these or future life changing experiences, watch for frequent communications through Life at the Creek or contact any of the REACH mission leaders.
