Since 1973, Delaware families in crisis, struggling with multiple issues such as illness, homelessness, domestic violence, poverty or unemployment have received assistance from the Adopt-a-Family program. Most of the recipients are single parent households, children and senior citizens. Through the Holiday Gift Assistance Program sponsors “adopt” an individual or families for the holiday season by providing holiday gift certificates. These gift certificates provide the head of household the ability to purchase just the right holiday gifts for their family.
You can help make this program a success by participating in any or all of the following ways:
Make a financial contribution to RCCPC marked “Adopt-A-Family”. Contributions are needed by Dec 5 to allow time to purchase gift certificates. Our goal is $120/family member for shoes, toys, clothing and groceries.
Fill a shoebox with small personal gifts for a family member. These small gifts, which are in addition to the gift certificates, provide personal “surprises” for the families. You may select an ornament from the tree in the narthex, beginning Nov 21, which lists the family code, age and sex of the family member. Shoeboxes should be returned to Fellowship Hall no later than Sunday, Dec 5. If you wish to wrap your gift, please wrap the lid and box separately.
Volunteer your time on the Adopt-A-Family Workday – Tuesday, Dec 7, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Volunteers will be purchasing gift certificates and assembling packages for each family. Lunch will be provided.
Pray for the families, the Adopt-A-Family committee, and the RCCPC community that we may all know the joy of sharing the love of Christ this season.
