As the first flower of spring, the daffodil is a symbol of hope. In the face of cancer, it represents the hope we all share for a future where cancer is no longer a life-threatening disease.
Traditionally the first Sunday in April in England was "Daffodil Sunday," and people would pick daffodils from their homes and surrounding fields to take to the hospitals in London.
On May 7th, members of the congregation will be given a daffodil and the opportunity to lay it at the communion table In Memory of or In Honor of special individuals who have faced or are facing cancer.
