Faith Seeking Understanding Theology Class

Adult Ministry All Church

Join Pastor Nate in Fellowship Hall from 8:30 - 9:30 am on the 2nd Sunday of every month beginning in September for this theology class.

Augustine, Anselm, and Aquinas. These are the heavyweight Christian scholars that shaped the theological direction of the church from the fourth century to the doorstep of the sixteenth century reformation. Each of these scholars call us into deeper and more faithful inspection and introspection. Augustine said, “You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you.” Aquinas said, "To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible.” Anselm’s motto was fides quaerens intellectum, “faith seeking understanding.”

The 2nd Sunday of every month will offer us an opportunity to explore the development of Christian thought through the eyes of these scholars and many more!  Topics will include: The Authority of Scripture, The Triune God, The Providence of God and the Mystery of Evil, The Person and Work of Jesus Christ, The Holy Spirit and the Christian Life, Sacraments, and Christian Hope.

The “Faith Seeking Understanding” book by Daniel Migliore is necessary for this class and can be purchased through Amazon HERE.
